Doing things the write way: vegan pen pals

Old letters

No matter how great technology becomes, I think there will always be a place in my heart for receiving mail. Especially now that I’m living on an island that seems to have sometimes limited postal delivery, getting something in the post just seems a little more exciting than opening up my inbox. Maybe it’s the fact that most of the mail I receive is actually for me, and from someone I care about. It’s not a handwritten letter from a prince in Azeroth or a great new store that offers discounts on all the prescriptions I could ever need.

Simply put: mail is still pretty damn personal for most of us.

So, that’s why I think this is such a great idea:

Vegan Pen Pals Project from L.O.V.E.

Maybe you can share recipes. Maybe you can swap stories about how and why you became vegan. Maybe you can find support in tough times or maybe you can support someone else. Either way, it seems like a win-win situation to me.

Of course, with handwriting like mine, it might not be a complete win-win for both parties.

Thanks so much, Ryan! I hope you and T.O.F.U. readers will sign up — we’ve got over 300 participants now from fifteen different countries around the world, and people seem to be really excited about the program. I just got a batch of mail from the P.O. Box yesterday and found recipes, mix CDs, photo collages, and letters galore. It’s a ton of fun!

      Hey Jenna,
That does sound like a lot of fun! I’ll have to look into it later this week once I’m back at my own place. Hopefully you’ll get a few more folks from this post as I’m sure some of our readers would love writing a few letters.

      keep it up,
