WAIW | Getting a Thai Visa in Kuala Lumpur

Cover for Getting a Thai Visa in Kuala Lumpur

Since I did a video for a trip to the Royal Thai Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam months ago, I thought I should cover what I had to do to apply for a Thai tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia earlier today.

Overall, the process went relatively smoothly. However, I don’t technically have the visa as of yet (I pick it up tomorrow), so it’s possible that some complications may still arise. That being said, I made sure to have copies of my flights in and out of the country, as well as info on where I was staying. So, I covered my bases a little more than what I had to do in HCMC, which was partially based on KL’s reputation as being a little tougher.

Of course, I didn’t pick KL for getting a visa, I picked it for a wonderful Buddhist buffet that just happens to be near the embassy, and you can bet I’ll be going there more before I leave next week!

If you’d like to learn more about the visa process, some of the sites I found helpful were:

Royal Thai Embassy (Kuala Lumpur)

Although it’s a little difficult to navigate, the first place you should always check for info is the website of the embassy you’ll be visiting. Even though this sort of stuff involves governments, things can change quickly, and blogs can often be out-of-date.

So, check the KL embassy’s website here.

If you’d like to see more of the buffet, check out the video Giselle and Cody of Mindful Wanderlust did for Vegan Travel. When I first came to KL, it was their excitement for the place that had me wanting to check it out. Sadly, it wasn’t in the cards during that trip, but I’ve been lucky enough to come back, and I suspect this won’t be the last time either.
